Staying Connected: Communication at East Dover Early Childhood Center
At East Dover Early Childhood Center, we know that strong two-way communication between families and educators is essential to student success. We are committed to fostering a supportive, informed partnership throughout the year through multiple communication tools and routines.
Daily Take-Home Folders
Each child will receive a blue folder that goes home daily and includes important classroom, school, and district information. Please check the folder each evening and return it to school each day. This is a key tool for keeping you informed of updates, forms, and events.
Weekly Automated Phone Calls & Website Updates
You will receive a weekly call with reminders, highlights, and important information for the week ahead. Be sure to check our school website for calendar updates, resources, and announcements.
Social Media
Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for fun updates, school highlights, event reminders, and snapshots of daily life at EDECC!
TalkingPoints
TalkingPoints is our primary two-way communication platform. It allows you to receive updates and messages in your preferred language. Teachers use TalkingPoints to share regular updates, photos, and reminders. You can respond directly with questions or feedback—it’s a great way to stay engaged in real time.
Email and Phone Communication
Email is best for more detailed communication or to request a meeting. Teachers may also be reached via school phone extension, though they cannot answer during instructional time. If you call, please leave a message including your name and the reason for your call.
Meetings
If a longer or more in-depth conversation is needed, families are welcome to schedule a meeting with the teacher or school staff.
Response Time & Boundaries
To ensure both effective communication and a healthy work-life balance for staff:
- 24-Hour Response Window: Teachers will make every effort to respond to parent inquiries within 24 hours on school days
- No After-Hours Replies: Staff are not expected to respond outside of designated work hours.
- “Do Not Disturb” Settings: Communication tools may be set to silent outside of work hours to preserve personal time.
We appreciate your partnership in maintaining respectful and effective communication throughout the school year. These guidelines will be reviewed periodically to ensure they continue to meet the needs of our families and staff.
