East Dover Vision Statement

Everyone is a leader
Achieving
Success
Together

We are a Leader in Me Lighthouse School as we feel that teaching to the whole child will increase student  learning and develop self confidence. A focus on student learning is evident throughout the school as you see student work posted in the hallways and in the classrooms. We have two special programs at our school, pre-k and the Senator Step Up program formally known as the ILC. Pre-k has a three year old classroom and a four year old classroom that serve students with special needs and incorporates peers into the program. The Senator Step Up has four classrooms for students with special needs.

Our curriculum is rigorous and designed with an emphasis on developing critical thinking and problem solving skills, gathering and interpreting data, working collaboratively, and communicating across all content areas. It is aligned with State of Delaware Content Standards and Common Core State Standards. Speech and English Language (EL) services are provided for identified students. Curriculum components include: Reading Wonders, iReady Math curriculum (Fall 2022), and Smithsonian and FOSS science kits. We have a reading specialist, math specialist, special education teachers, Title I and special education paraprofessionals to serve students who need additional help with their learning. Related arts are provided in library, technology, music, art and physical education.
